- 15.25 ounces yellow cake mix, prepared according to box instructions
- 6.8 ounces French vanilla instant pudding mix (two 3.4 oz boxes)
- 4 cups cold milk
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 ¼ cup whipped topping or canned whipped cream
Instructions
- Bake yellow cake according to package instructions. Cool and cut into 1-inch cubes.
- Whisk pudding mix with cold milk and chill until set.
- Heat cream until simmering, then pour over chocolate chips.
- Add butter and vanilla, then stir until smooth and glossy.
- Layer cake cubes, pudding, and chocolate sauce in a trifle dish.
- Repeat layers and finish with chocolate on top.
- Chill for at least 2 hours.
- Top with whipped cream before serving.

- Longer chilling improves flavor.
- Use heatproof bowl for chocolate ganache.
